3D scanning is the fastest way to accurately measure an area. It can be used in many places; e.g. when expanding and renovating process plants, when removing heating plants, pump stations, etc. A scan with color typically takes 2-3 minutes, which means that you can scan a large area in a few hours.
The scanner recognizes surfaces and uses it to assemble a point cloud. This makes it easier to scan complex installations. The very compact scanner makes it possible to make a detailed measurement where you would otherwise not be able to measure. With this technique, you can reduce in many work steps.
Design
With a 3D scan, it is possible to create an accurate design that takes existing equipment into account.
The 3D scan can be imported as a point cloud in most CAD programs and can, for example, be used in combination with AutoCAD Plant 3D. Here it is possible to use functions such as WALK THE RUN (recognition of pipe and structure) and PIPE CLASH DETECTION, which can report where there is a conflict between pipe and point cloud.
